Welcome to Intertwine Canine, I am Kristen the owner and trainer. I have over 10 years of experience working with and training dogs.
My journey started when I was little.. I have always been a dog lover, my grandma got me little yorkie when I was younger who I adored, I worked with him taught him tricks. During middle school for the school science fair I did a project on can you teach an old dog new tricks.. basically going over the science of dog training. Whenever I would go to a friends house I would always want to walk their dog. In my hometown I would ask my neighbors if I could walk their dogs for free.
So, as I got older I needed to be in the animal field, I worked for a vet clinic for a little while but taking my german shepherd to group classes changed it all for me. My old boss and instructor at the time told me if I ever wanted a job he would hire me anytime. I toke advantage of the offer and learned as much as I could. During my time with that facility which in total was about 7 years I worked with all kinds of dogs with a range of behavior problems.. I worked with all kinds of cool breeds, The variety has helped me learn how to adapt my training style for the dog in front of me. I am always learning and finding new techniques to make my own. While I worked at that facility I worked under some amazing trainers and got to meet so many cool well known trainers. I try to attend seminars when I can but I am always keeping up on new techniques with old trainer friends and trainers I look up to.
I have owned my business for 5 years now, I have enjoyed getting to know so many amazing clients along the way and so many cool dogs. I look forward to helping you better your relationship with your dog.
My Dogs, My Heart
From left to right: Fenrir, Athena, and Noah.
These three have been with me through so many chapters — teaching me, grounding me, and shaping the kind of trainer (and person) I am today.
Fenrir and Noah have since passed, but their impact on my life and work lives on every single day. And Athena, my 13-year-old beagle, is still by my side — my shadow, my steady, and a reminder of why I do what I do.
They weren’t just my pets. They were (and are) my teachers.
And while he’s not officially mine, I have to mention Bob — a client’s dog who spends about eight weeks a year with me. He’s become a big part of the Intertwine family and helps out with the dogs in training like it’s his job. He’s one of a kind.
